This single-storey custom home sits on the shore of Osoyoos Lake in British Columbia’s South Okanagan. LUX Homes built it on a rare waterfront property bordered by working vineyards. The lake sits at its back door, with the valley’s sun-baked hills rising across the water. LUX designed the home to live quietly in one of the country’s warmest, most striking settings.
The architecture is clean and horizontal. A low, dark roofline and a warm mix of charcoal and taupe stucco give the exterior a calm, modern presence. A dark pivot-style entry framed by full-height glass opens straight through the home to the vineyard beyond. Inside, wide-plank white oak floors and a bright, restrained palette reinforce that quiet, modern feel across the main floor.
The open-concept great room, kitchen, and dining area are the home’s clear centre of gravity, the space every visitor stops in first. A band of clerestory windows and walls of sliding glass pull in light and lake views from nearly every angle. The kitchen pairs matte black cabinetry with warm oak accents and natural stone counters and backsplash. A generous island anchors the room, built for gathering. Just off it, a custom wet bar with its own dishwasher drawer for glassware keeps entertaining effortless.
The living room’s centrepiece is a three-sided gas fireplace. Its wide linear flame sits beneath a tall hood finished in clay plaster, rising above the built-in oak media console to the vaulted ceiling, and it divides the main sitting area from the room beyond. Throughout the home, LUX chose finishes built to last: white oak millwork, matte black hardware and fixtures, and custom cabinetry that ties each room together.
The primary suite opens to the water through sliding glass doors. Its ensuite feels spa-inspired, with a freestanding tub that adds a heated backrest, air jet system, and aromatherapy setup, a large glass shower with full-height stone walls, and a heated towel rack. Outdoors, a covered lakeside patio and private beach access extend the living space right to the waterfront of Osoyoos Lake. Mature willows and open Okanagan sky frame it all, bringing the home to a quiet close.
